Gilt fashion site bursting at the seamsSince Gilt.com launched in November, more than 75,000 people have signed up for the site's fashion sales; 40 fashion houses currently participate, up from 15 at the launch.February 22. 2008 3:02PMBy: Elisabeth ButlerManhattan-based Gilt Groupe is scrambling to keep up with surging demand for its online sample sales.Since the Groupe launched Gilt.com in November, more than 75,000 people have signed up to receive notices of the Web site’s limited-time sales of designer apparel and accessory collections.Because some of the most popular lines have sold out in a single afternoon, Gilt Groupe executives are increasing the frequency of its sales to seven collections per week, up from four. They have also started ordering more inventory so that members who log on after the noon start-time won’t miss out on the event.
